The story
Gold, and nothing else. The damask is figured with flowers and leaves in the same gold as its ground, so the pattern appears and disappears with the light. The only addition is a narrow beaded braid down the front and at the cuffs. It is the plainest and the most photographed piece in the house: we took it into the arches of the medina and, later, in front of a wall of carpets, and it answered both.
